Kabul airport bomb kills 'foreigners'

This is the second attack on Kabul airport in days

A suicide bomb outside Kabul airport has killed at least four people, three of them reportedly foreigners, officials say.

The nationalities of the foreigners, described as "advisers", are not known so far.

The Taliban said they carried out this attack, Reuters news agency reports.

Kabul airport is used by both civilians and the military, and this comes days after Afghan forces repelled an audacious attack on the airport.

Heavily armed militants attacked the airport with grenades and automatic weapons. Four insurgents were left dead and one security official wounded.

The attacks come against the backdrop of a hotly-disputed election process.

The election commission is conducting an audit of votes cast during a presidential run-off, held on 14 June, amid warnings of instability.

Ashraf Ghani won the 14 June run-off, according to preliminary results. Mr Abdullah came top in the first round in April, but failed to secure 50% of the vote to avoid the run-off.

Both candidates accuse each other of electoral fraud.
